Uncaria gambir Roxb. mediated synthesis of stable silver nanoparticles in the presence of triethanolamine as the capping agent

Abstract The study of silver nanoparticles (AgNPs) fabrication has gained great interest especially for pharmaceutical applications due to its excellent antibacterial properties. AgNps are well known their inhibitory and bactericidal effects both on positive negative gram bacteria. However, the utilisation some chemical reducing agents in synthesis process can be harmful environment human body. Green been successfully conducted using an aqueous extract Uncaria gambir Roxb. (UGR) leaves as a bioreducing agent triethanolamine capping agent, reacted with AgNO 3 precursor. formation was visually revealed by colour change from yellow brown. It also confirmed UV-visible (UV-Vis) spectrophotometer analysis absorption peaks at 402–414 nm. result X-ray diffraction (XRD) showed 5 referring face-centred cubic nanoparticles. Transmission electron microscope (TEM) that spherical size range 2–18 nm mean diameter 8 have formed. addition 1/50 mL (TEA) could enhance stability colloidal reduce particle up 65%. This UGR leaf used mediate rapid, environmentally friendly, less expensive fabrication.
